This bass featured amplification, which was ground-breaking at the time, although his company never achieved much success. Leo Fender developed his own electric bass in 1951, the Precision Bass. Leo lived in Southern California. Leo's company Fender achieved great success. Although in 1965, Leo Fender sold his company to CBS due to health reasons.
